#29: Join a CSA

CSA = Community Supported Agriculture

One of my friends told me that Backyard Produce just started delivering to my neighborhood earlier this month, so I signed up as soon as I could!  I have been wanting to join a CSA for a long time - it's one of my 101 in 1001 goals.  A CSA is where you pay a weekly fee and get a bunch of fresh, local produce delivered every week.  I think this one is perfect for us right now, since there are a few sizes to choose from.  Many CSAs that I looked into in the past were just too big, but this one let me choose a box sized for two people, which is just the right amount.  I also really like how this company will let you customize your order if you don't want the generic box.

I have gotten two boxes so far, and I was thrilled with both!  It is such a great way to get more veggies into my diet, which I need to work on.  I have been having a lot of fun figuring out ways to cook vegetables that are new to me.  Plus, now that Andrew is home, he can help me eat them.

It's always good to eat more veggies, especially the organic kind, and I'm happy to be supporting local farmers in the process!

We signed up for our first CSA here in Eastern NC this year, as well! I am so thrilled, like you, to be getting loads of local fruit and veggies. Food tastes better when its fresh and in season!

I think this is so awesome. I plan on signing up for our local bountiful basket co-op here. Can't wait! :)

I've been wanting to do this too, but I am afraid a lot of it will get wasted. I think that its awesome that you can pick a smaller size!
