Meet Elyse!

Have you noticed the lovely ladies on my sidebar?  Those are all of my best blog friends/sponsor swappers.  They're awesome.  This month, I've asked each of these ladies to take over my blog for a day with a guest post.  I'll be scattering their guest posts throughout the month so that you can get to know them better - and I'm sure you'll love their blogs just as much as I do!

Elyse was one of my very first blog friends!  She is a fellow teacher (but somehow she is able to deal with the littles), and I just love reading her blog.  She is super crafty and creative, and posts about her awesome projects.  I'll let her introduce herself to you some more!  Enjoy getting to know her!

Hello dear bloggy friends!  My name is Elyse and I blog at My Life with a Cherry on Top. I am a part-time salon receptionist, now FULL-TIME Elementary Art teacher (Yay for that!), girlfriend, sister, and daughter.  I am a stalker reader of Jessica's blog, and she was nice enough to let me take over for a bit today!

Today I will share with you a few things you need to know about living in Southern Indiana (in case you are ever blessed with that scenario).

First thing's first...You have to like corn on the cob.
Because you will be surrounded by the stuff.
You have to like the REAL Indiana team, not those other guys.

Indiana IS the Hoosier State after all, not the Boilermaker State.

In liking IU, you will also need to enjoy basketball.  The Hoosier's sport.

Avoid saying "Y'all".  You might be in Southern Indiana, but you're not in the real South.  Although, a "Y'all" may slip out here and there.  After all, Indiana is Kentucky's hat.

You may find yourself ending your sentence's with prepositions.
"Where's my phone at?"
"If you go to the mall, can I go with?"

You will learn the meaning of "catty-wumpus".
You have to be prepared for all types of weather.
One day it could be 50 degrees.  The next day it could look like this.

A good rule of thumb is to wear lots of layers!  You never know how the weather will be!

So that, in a nutshell, is how to survive if you ever come to Southern Indiana!
